Dr. Stephen Rosenthal named Director of the Directorate of Medical and Professional Services

Congratulations to Dr. Stephen Rosenthal, who has been named the Director of the Directorate of Medical and Professional Services. Dr. Rosenthal will be taking on the role effective September 29. He replaces Dr. Louise Miner, who has held the position since the CIUSSS formed in 2015.

In keeping with our CIUSSS’s vision of "Care Everywhere", Dr. Rosenthal will apply his 30 years of leadership experience in emergency medicine, digital health strategy and health systems transformation to bring integrated, high-performance care to our network’s users—with a province-wide impact that will extend to communities beyond our territory.

Most recently, Dr. Rosenthal was Director of Digital Health, Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Montreal West Island CIUSSS, where he was driving innovation in all of these domains. Pace-setting projects led by Dr. Rosenthal have garnered awards at the provincial level. His initiatives have included the integration of AI, technologies from non-medical fields and robotics into clinical practice and patient screening.

Dr. Rosenthal’s decades-long career as a physician and IT professional at the Jewish General Hospital began in 1989. He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery from McGill University, where he also obtained a Masters in Computer Science.
